Eurovision 1960 was the 5th edition of Eurovision, and was held on Tuesday the 29th of March. Despite the Netherlands winning the contest in 1959, and therefore having the right to host the contest, they declined the opportunity to host due to not wanting to host a contest so soon after their last hosting gig in 1958. Since the UK had come second in 1959, they took up the opportunity to host the contest. As such, the contest was held in the Royal Festival Hall in London, and was hosted by Katie Boyle.
The contest continued to grow, and in 1960, there were a total of 13 participating nations, with Luxembourg returning to the contest, and Norway debuting. There was one returning artist, which was Fud Leclerc, who represented Belgium in 1956 and 1958.
