Eurovision Union’s Chart Toppers #14

Throughout 2017, Eurovision Union was dedicated in bringing you Weekly Playlists with new music from Eurovision and National Final stars, new and old, as well as stars we’d love to see at Eurovision one day! We made so many musical discoveries, and through 2018, we want to share with you which songs we’ve been loving! Some songs will come and go, and some will stick around – here are our Eurovision Union Chart Toppers!

  1. Que Pasa – Omar Rudberg  (↑3)

I was late to get on this train, but I’m certainly making up for lost time! I’m seriously addicted to this track from former FO&O member, Omar Rudberg. It has those Latino vibes mixed with Swedish pop greatness that I can’t help but love, and it’s as simple as that!

2. Tesla – Capo Plaza ft Sfera Ebbasta & DrefGold (↓1)

After a month in top position of our Chart Toppers, Capo Plaza has dropped a place this time around! Despite the small drop, this song is definitely among my favourites and not just a fleeting favourite. Judging by Capo Plaza’s impact on the Italian charts lately, I suspect his success won’t be fleeting either!

3. Elevate – Blissful (↑6)

Last time around, I had just rediscovered this incredible electronic track from Svala-led band Blissful, and honestly, I’m unsure as to why this left my personal playlist. This is such an incredible song in terms of the music, the lyrics, the vocals – just everything about it is next level!

4. Secrets – Nathan Trent (↓1)

I am totally having a moment with Nathan Trent’s voice right now, especially being an avid follower of Nathan on social media, where he posts live performances or covers. His latest single Secrets is still a staple in my playlist, and I suspect it could be here for a while longer!

5. Wrong Turn – Blanche (↓3)

It took Blanche a hot minute to release a follow up track after Eurovision, but boy is it a good one. It’s simple yet complex, and unlike many of the other songs featured in my playlists. It’s definitely a contender for song of the year, watch this space!

6. Heaven On My Skin – Oscar Enestad (↑4)

The second FO&O member to feature in our Chart Toppers is Oscar Enestad, who has released a killer debut single. It holds its own against some of the best Swedish releases lately, and absolutely deserves more attention!

7. Lungomare Latino – Gue Pequeno feat. Willy William (=)

This song took a few listens for me to fall in love with, but now it’s firmly in my current list of favourites! As the name may suggest, the song has a Latino feel about it, and is a bit more pop oriented than some of Gue’s previous songs.

8. Umuligt – Basim (↑3)

It wouldn’t be a Chart Toppers post without featuring Basim in the Top 10 somewhere, and this time around it’s his latest track that has maintained a spot in the Top 10. It has the ethnic charm of his previous releases that I enjoyed immensely, but diverse enough that it’s in its own league.

9. ThatFeeling – JOWST feat. Aleksander Walmann (↑5)

Nothing can beat the magical feeling of listening to this track with JOWST’s impeccable production and Aleksander’s incredibly smooth vocals. This is such an uplifting tune that deserves a lot more love outside the Eurovision bubble!

10. Perdonami – Salmo (↑5)

To remain in our Chart Toppers for as long as this song has is a testament to how much I enjoy this song. It’s not the lengthiest song in the playlist, but it sure packs a punch in the two and a bit minutes of the track. Long live Perdonami.

11. Dance You Off (Extended Version) – Benjamin Ingrosso (RETURN)

Not everyone hopped on the Benjamin Ingrosso train at Eurovision this year, but facts are facts and he is absolutely peaking in the pop world right now. This song is a demonstration of that, and out of all the competing songs from this year’s Eurovision, this is the song that I’ll keep going back to time and time again!

12. The One (I Need You) – Kristian Kostov (=)

Speaking of artists on top of their game, Kristian Kostov really has a bright future ahead provided he follows this pop route. He demonstrated at Eurovision that the darker style pop suits his voice, but something a bit lighter such as this song is a good direction for the young Bulgarian artist. A great song for a repeat listen.

13. Comme Ci Comme Ça – Basim (↑5)

This is truly one of the most addictive songs I have ever come across, and no matter how many times I listen to the song, I don’t seem to get sick of it. That’s the power of Basim, I suppose!

14. Aji Aji – Basim (↑2)

Much like the previous, this is an incredibly addictive song that has become one of my all time favourites!

15. Love You Again – Benjamin Ingrosso (↓10)

Hello, is that Justin Bieber? Take the name off and it could be mistaken for one of the international star’s songs but for those who love pure pop cheesiness this will hit the spot. 10/10 this is a catchy melody bound to get stuck in your head!

16. Morirò da re – Måneskin (RETURN)

Can we please see this young band represent Italy at Eurovision soon? Please? They have such unique talent that deserves to reach new heights of popularity, and that rings especially true having seen both an English and Italian language release post X Factor Italy.

17. Suburbia (Acoustic Version) – Kilian & Jo feat. Erik Rapp (NEW)

We have a running theme of artists that deserve more love, and Erik Rapp absolutely falls into that category. With consistently good releases, there’s no doubt in my mind that he is one of my favourite artists, and provided he keeps pushing boundaries, he will continue to be an all-time fave! This song is a highlight for me, and judging by the amount of listens on Spotify, it’s not just me who loves it!

18. Tifældigt – Basim (↓1)

It’s a Middle Eastern inspired Danish rap. What else could you want from a song? Another confident track from Basim.

19. Tanker – Basim (=)

More in line with the previously mentioned Umuligt, this is a slower track from Basim that counteracts his other tracks and acts as a more relaxing tune. Still a lot of love for this one!

20. Özönvíz – Pápai Joci (↓14)

As you may be able to judge from the previous songs, I’ve been loving the ethnic sounds and this song fits right in with that theme! Almost as good as Origo, this track demonstrates that Joci is the master of the ethnic sound.
