Romania: MIHAI opts out, while two new acts receive Wildcards

Back in December, the Romanian Eurovision national finalists were revealed, however since the announcement, some changes have been made to the line-up.

Recently it was announced that former Eurovision representative Dan Bittman would be withdrawing from the national selection citing a clash of schedules. It was unclear at the time whether he would be replaced in the selection, however now we do know that two new acts have entered the line-up.

It has been revealed that Bella Santiago and Linda Teodosiu will be competing in the national selection having received wildcards into the competition. The broadcaster opened the submission briefly for any wildcard entries, and nine entries were received. The artists were required to give a valid reason as to why their entries weren’t received in the first round of submissions, and from there Bella and Linda were selected by the jury.

Bella Santiago will be performing Army of Lovers, and Linda Teodosiu will be performing the song Renegades.

Additionally, there’s been recent news that regular contender and former Eurovision artist MIHAI has withdrawn from the competition. In a Facebook post, MIHAI explains that he no longer has trust in the broadcaster and their objectivity and that he cannot participate in a competition with uncertainties. Due to the timing of the withdrawal, it is certainly linked to this second round of submissions where Bella Santiago and Linda Teodosiu were admitted into the competition.
