Who will represent Sweden at Eurovision 2019? Here’s the Latest!

As many of us would know, Sweden is a strong competitor when it comes to Eurovision, having won the competition 6 times in total, and more recently have found themselves in the Top 5 more often than not. Their success runs back to their national selection format, which is perhaps one of the most popular during the Eurovision pre-season.

Melodifestivalen is known for showcasing talented artists with incredible music, with the winner of the competition given the opportunity to represent Sweden at Eurovision. Swedish broadcaster SVT unsurprisingly have confirmed that this will be the selection format once again in 2019, but we now know that the submission period will begin at the end of August.

On the SVT website, it has been said that from Friday the 31st of August, interested songwriters are able to submit their entries for a total of 3 weeks, with the submission period closing on the 17th of September.

The number of competing entries within the show will remain the same, however we know that a panel will select 14 of the competing entries from the public submissions, while the other 14 will be picked by SVT themselves, either from the same public submissions or by invitation.

The broadcaster is looking for diverse entries to create a show with variety. As such, they invite entrants to submit entries in different languages and genres.
