Israel 2019: Twelve artists progress to the Final Round

Over the last few months, the Israeli national selection process has been underway with artists showing off their talents on the HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion stage. The competition is nearing completion, with the final 12 acts decided on for the final round.

Last night the third and final round of duels took place with the final four finalists decided upon. They will join the artists who had qualified from previous rounds as well as two wildcard entrants who were saved from elimination.

Here are the finalists:

  • Shalva Band
  • Ofri Halfon
  • Tai
  • Osher Biton
  • Ketreyah
  • Maya Buskila
  • Daniel Barzilai
  • Clara Sabag
  • Avraham de Carvalho (wildcard)
  • Kobi Merimi
  • Daniel Mazuz
  • Shefita (wildcard)

The Israeli national selection is used to choose the artist that will be representing Israel, with the song to be revealed afterwards. This style of selection has been used since 2015, although the show had a previous season in 2013. This approach has proven to be successful for Israel, having qualified each year that the talent show has been used to select the Eurovision representative. Netta won the Eurovision 2018 contest with her song Toy, and as such the contest will be hosted in Israel this year in host city Tel Aviv. Watch her performance below, and stay tuned for more news from Israel!
