It’s been a hot minute since we’ve seen Portugal at Junior Eurovision, but after their Eurovision success this year, they’ve also decided to join the Junior Eurovision party in Georgia later this year. A national final was held to choose the performer, while the song Youtuber was decided previously.
A total of five acts performed the selected song, but it was Mariana Venâncio who impressed the jurors and televoters with her version of Youtuber! Fellow junior Filipa Ferreira won the jury vote, however the televoters preferred Mariana. The two participants finished in equal first place, but the tie-breaker was down to the preference of the public, so it was Mariana who topped the table! The jury consisted of Carlos Mendes, Inês Santos and Pedro Gonçalves, all of which have had either Eurovision or Festival da Canção experience.
