Eurovision World Cup: Cyprus vs Italy

For the duration of the actual World Cup, some of the best Eurovision artists old and new will be battling it out in a series of matches that mirror the World Cup itself. By the end, we will know the first winner of our Eurovision World Cup!

On each competition day of the World Cup, all of the matches for that day will be posted here on Eurovision Union. For a full 24 hours, a poll will be open for each match and it will be up to you to pick which of the representative songs will win the match.

We have made it to Day 7 of the Eurovision World Cup, and today there will be a total of three matches featuring nations from both Group A and Group B. The next match is between Cyprus and Italy, so let’s get into it!

Today’s Competitors:

Cyprus first made their debut back in 1981, but it took until 2018 to achieve their best Eurovision result. The nation has finished in the Top 10 numerous times, but it was fan favourite Eleni Foureira who brought Cyprus closer to their first Eurovision win with the song Fuego. The song finished in 2nd place overall. Watch the performance here:

Italy has won Eurovision twice, the first time with Gigliola Cinquetti and the song Non ho l’età and the second winning entry, which is the competing entry for Italy in the Eurovision World Cup is Insieme: 1992 which was performed by Toto Cutugno. The song won Eurovision in 1990, so if you need to refresh your memory on the performance, check it out below:
