Eurovision World Cup: Belgium vs United Kingdom

For the duration of the actual World Cup, some of the best Eurovision artists old and new will be battling it out in a series of matches that mirror the World Cup itself. By the end, we will know the first winner of our Eurovision World Cup!

On each competition day of the World Cup, all of the matches for that day will be posted here on Eurovision Union. For a full 24 hours, a poll will be open for each match and it will be up to you to pick which of the representative songs will win the match.

We are up to Day 15 of our Eurovision World Cup, and today is a special day in the schedule as it’s the final day of the Group stage. We have four matches today, and these are the matches from Group G and Group H. Once we conclude these matches, we will know all of the nations continuing to the next stage of the competition! This match is between Belgium and the United Kingdom!

Today’s competitors:

Belgium has participated at Eurovision an incredible 60 times, and was one of the seven nations to compete in the debut year of Eurovision back in 1956. Incredibly, the nation has won the competition only once, but at least that didn’t make things complicated for our Eurovision World Cup! Representing Belgium is Sandra Kim with her winning song J’aime la vie, which won the contest in 1986.

The United Kingdom have participated at Eurovision an incredible 61 times, after making their debut in 1957. The nation didn’t participate in 1958, but since then participated each and every year of the contest. They have been quite successful too, having come 2nd a record number of times with 15 runner-up’s. They have also won an impressive 5 times, which made it difficult to choose a Eurovision World Cup representative! In the end, we decided on the most recent entry which is Love Shine a Light performed by Katrina and the Waves.
