Eurovision World Cup: Sweden vs Ukraine

For the duration of the actual World Cup, some of the best Eurovision artists old and new will be battling it out in a series of matches that mirror the World Cup itself. By the end, we will know the first winner of our Eurovision World Cup!

On each competition day of the World Cup, all of the matches for that day will be posted here on Eurovision Union. For a full 24 hours, a poll will be open for each match and it will be up to you to pick which of the representative songs will win the match.

Yesterday we posted the first of two semi-finals, and today we are featuring the second semi-final which is between two incredibly popular songs! Both Sweden and Ukraine have fought their way into the semi-final,  but the battle is not over yet. The winner of this match will go into the Final match, while the loser of this match will move into the Third Place decider later this week!

Today’s competitors:

If we look at wins at Eurovision, it’s very clear that Sweden is one of the most successful nations at the contest, having won the contest a total of six times. With that said, we had to pick just one representative for Sweden in our Eurovision World Cup, and it was certainly a tough choice. In the end we picked one of our most iconic winners, and that’s Loreen with Euphoria which won in 2012.

Ukraine are one of the most successful nations at the contest, having won twice since their debut in 2003. Their first win was with Ruslana in the second appearance for Ukraine, however Ukraine’s World Cup entry is their latest winner which is 1944 by Jamala. Listen to the entry below:
