After talk of an interval performance, it has now been confirmed that international superstar Madonna will be performing at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.
According to Haaretz, the EBU have confirmed that the singer will be part of the show and set to perform two songs as part of her set. It is said to feature one of her previously released hits as well as a new song.
Her appearance is said to be financed by Sylvan Adams, the billionaire who has the role of promoter of Israel on the international stage. The cost of Madonna’s appearance is said to be over $1 million. Without Adams’ contribution, Israeli broadcaster KAN would not have been able to feature Madonna due to the budget of Eurovision this year.
It is not too common to see such internationally renowned artists performing at Eurovision, although one of the most notable performances in recent years was Justin Timberlake who performed at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016 where the contest was held in Stockholm, Sweden.
