Blas Cantó to Represent Spain at Eurovision 2020

Earlier in the Eurovision season it was announced that Spain would be internally selecting their Eurovision entrant for 2020, rather than using a pubic selection format. Today, Spanish broadcaster RTVE have announced that Blas Cantó will be representing the nation in Rotterdam.

Blas is 27 years old, and was previously a member of the Spanish boy band, Auryn. The band last performed together in 2016, and Blas has since released two solo albums. His most recent album, ‘Complicados’ was released in September this year.

Some of his most popular songs include Él no soy yo and No Volveré (A Seguir tus pasos), with the former reaching 65 million views on YouTube. You can watch Él no soy yo, as well as one of his latest hits, Si te vas below:

Blas also has a connection to Eurovision, having participated in EuroJunior which was the competition to select Spain’s Junior Eurovision entry back in 2004. He finished fourth in the competition, and the winner, Maria Isabel went on to win Junior Eurovision with her song Antes Muerta Que Sencilla. Representing Spain at Eurovision is a dream for Blas, a dream he will be able to live on the 16th of May.

It has not yet been confirmed when the song will be released, nor the selection method for the song. It is likely that the song will be internally selected, however it is also possible that a public song selection could be used. Stay tuned for more news!
