This year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest has taken another hit, with Ireland now announcing that they will not take part in this year’s contest. This comes after Australia, North Macedonia and Wales all announced their withdrawal from the contest.
Like the other nations, Ireland is citing the current COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for not participating at this year’s contest. Currently in Ireland, there is a Green List set by the Irish Government of countries that Irish citizens are able to travel to without needing to quarantine, with Poland not yet on that list.
The Irish broadcaster TG4 are hopeful of their return to the contest in 2021.
