Finland to Continue with UMK Format for 2022

Finland will once again select their Eurovision entry through the UMK format. After the success of Blind Channel at Eurovision 2021, the Finnish broadcaster will once again set the bar high for their selection process.

Artists will be able to submit their entries between the 1st and 6th of September. As per the Eurovision rules, the entries must not be released prior to September 1st. The UMK rules also stipulate that up to three entries can be submitted per singer or group, however only one song is eligible for the live show. Songwriters are able to participate across multiple entries.

The singers on the demos must be the same singers to perform in the final of UMK, and these entries must not be entered into other nation’s national selections. At least one lead singer or songwriter must be a Finnish citizen, or otherwise a permanent resident of Finland.

Blind Channel performed the song Dark Side at this year’s Eurovision, and achieved Finland’s second-best Eurovision result. The group finished in 6th place in the final with a total of 301 points. Watch their performance below:
