Sanremo: Amadeus to Continue Role as Artistic Director

Amadeus will continue his role of Artistic Director and host of the upcoming edition of Sanremo. This will mark the third contest that Amadeus has held this role.

Italian broadcaster RAI has confirmed that Amadeus will continue in his position of Artistic Director in the prestigious Italian song festival, Sanremo. He has held this role since 2020, taking over from Claudio Baglioni.

The contest will be held in the first week of February, from the 1st to the 5th. While Amadeus will also return to the role of hosting the show, it was previously announced that the Sanremo hosts will not be the same as the Eurovision hosts, with RAI also organising Eurovision in 2022.

The line-up is expected towards the end of the year, or early 2022. It is also expected that the winner of the contest will have the opportunity to represent the nation at Eurovision on home soil.

In 2021, MÃ¥neskin won Sanremo with their song Zitti e Buoni, which then went on to win this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Watch the performance below:
