It is unsurprising that the contest is headed to Paris, after Valentina stormed the competition in 2020. Since their return to Junior Eurovision, France is clear in their direction, and their results reflect their efforts. Hoping to continue their streak of success is Enzo with the song, Tic Tac.

This year’s entry falls into the same category as their last three songs, all of which finished within the Top 5. What these songs have in common is the ability to appeal to audiences young and old. Tic Tac has that wide appeal – it’s playful, but also very catchy and memorable. It’s also the type of song that you don’t need multiple listens for it to grow on you. The appeal is instant.
The beat of the song is incredibly catchy, and adding a recognisable lyric such as ‘tic tac tic’ is a valuable resource for international audiences. The song is fast-paced, but one you can groove to, or at least tap your foot. While this is another fantastic entry from France, my worry is the live vocals. Enzo participated on The Voice Kids France, however it seemed that he felt comfortable in the rap genre. This is a completely different style, and in terms of the pace, seems difficult to pull off live.
Performance + Act
While this is a strong entry, the strongest part of this package is Enzo’s charisma. He is full of energy and personality, and it really shines through his live performances (from The Voice Kids) as well as the music video. I suspect that we will see a dynamic stage show with dancers and perhaps props as well. The nation has nailed their stage shows at Junior Eurovision since their return, so I have full faith that they can create something special for Enzo.
Conclusions
Could this win again? I’m not convinced it’s a winning entry yet, but with a strong stage show and live vocals, this will absolutely do well. It has the potential to really appeal with the public, but also with the jury.

What a joyful and unique song in the field of 2021. France does it again and comes up with a joyful song with a unique hook. You gotta love the trumpets and the way Enzo sells his song Tic Tac. It’s an earworm.
Performance + Act
The dances in the videoclip can be easily used in the stage performance in Paris and Enzo’s expressive face will sell the song to the viewing audience. It’s hard to keep still. A song especially the younger audience will love again.
Conclusions
I don’t know how France does this, but they are really on fire at Junior Eurovision. The home nation for 2021, after winning in 2020, takes a shot at victory again in 2021.
