It has been another fantastic year of new music from Eurovision and National Final stars, and our Eurovision Union Awards celebrates the best new music of the year. Over the past few weeks, you have been able to vote in 14 categories, and now it’s time to reveal the winners! In Part 1, we will reveal the first seven winners, and in Part 2, we will reveal the remaining winners. Thank you to everyone who voted, and without further ado, here are the winners!
Best Scandinavian Single
There are so many incredible songs coming out of the Scandinavian region, so much so that it deserved a whole category in our Eurovision Union Awards. This year’s selection featured a broad range, however there was one clear winner!
TIX dominated the vote with his song, Ut av mørket. The entry won with close to 63% of the vote!
Victor Crone finished in second place with his song, Waiting On Your Love. Rounding out the top three was KEiiNO with their song Summer Of My Life.
Best Music Video
While we usually focus on the music, in our Eurovision Union Awards we also like to highlight creativity through music videos. Whether they project a deep message, feature incredible production or are just a joy to watch, we love the value a music video can bring.
With such a diverse range of nominees, it was difficult to select just one! The voting was close among the top 2, however Eurovision winners Måneskin topped the vote for their song MAMMAMIA.
In second was TIX for his emotion-driven music video for Fallen Angel. In third was Fedez for the music video of Morire Morire.
Best Female Act
This category proved to be one of the closest in terms of the voting. The quality in this category was extremely high, with incredible music coming from each of the nominees. Three Eurovision 2021 artists were nominated, and coincidentally these are your top 3!
Finishing in top spot is Manizha, the Russian representative from 2021. Finishing in the Top 10 at Eurovision is a feat in itself, however Manizha also released a string of incredible new singles.
Finishing close behind was Barbara Pravi, who also had an incredible year. A second-place finish at Eurovision was backed up by an amazing album – a must listen! In third was VICTORIA, just four votes behind!
Best Male Act
As the name suggests, this category goes out to the male Eurovision and National Final stars that impressed us during 2021. Whether it was due to an appearance at Eurovision, or quality music releases, all the nominees had a strong year.
Continuing his domination in our Eurovision Union Awards this year is TIX, who held the lead over second place Marco Mengoni. TIX certainly had an impressive year, winning Melodi Grand Prix and representing Norway at Eurovision. In addition to his Eurovision entry, he also released some great singles during the year.
Finishing in third was Duncan Laurence.
EP Of The Year
An Extended Play, or an EP as it is commonly known, is a recording that features more tracks than a single, but less than an album. An EP is a good way to get a taste for an artist’s musical style, although for our nominated artists, we do hope to see full length albums soon!
The voting was close in this category, with just a few percent between the acts. Despite that, there’s only one winner, and that’s Daði Freyr with his EP, Welcome. The EP features both his Eurovision entries, as well as a remix of 10 Years. There are three additional songs including Somebody Else Now, which was nominated in some of the other categories in our Eurovision Union Awards this year!
In second was Little Big for their EP, Welcome To The Internet. In third was VICTORIA for her spectacular EP, A Little Dramatic. The EP featured her potential Eurovision songs, each one as great as the previous!
Album Of The Year
With countless albums released by Eurovision and National Final stars, picking a limited number was certainly a challenge. The nominated albums showcase a wide range of styles, but they all have one thing in common – high quality!
You voted, and here are the results! Eurovision champions Måneskin once again came out on top, finishing with over 50% of the vote for their album, Teatro d’ira Vol 1.
Finishing in second was Marco Mengoni for his album, Matera (Terra). In third was Eurovision royalty ABBA for their hotly anticipated album, Voyage.
Song Of The Year
This category is for the best of the best music releases of the year, and boy were there some incredible singles! From Israeli earworms CEO and Auto-Plastic from Netta and Nadav respectively, to the tender tune, Growing Pains from Nathan Trent. There was a big range of styles on offer this year.
Ultimately, there was one winner, and Måneskin demonstrate their popularity once again! The group won Song Of The Year for their banger, I Wanna Be Your Slave.
Finishing in second place was TIX with his track, Engel, Ikke Dra. Third place went to Duncan Laurence for his single, Stars, which he debuted at Eurovision in 2021.
