Denmark to Hold National Final in February

Similar to previous years, Denmark has decided to hold their national final titled Melodi Grand Prix once again to decide the 2016 Eurovision representative for Denmark.

The submission period has ended, however national broadcaster DR has stated that they are looking for a diverse range of songs from different musical genres, but are looking for a song with a strong and catchy chorus.

This year, the contest will be held in Horsens. DR has chosen this city as the host city due to their enthusiasm, and the arena can hold between 3500 and 4500 people. The venue has also hosted Melodi Grand Prix previously, as well as a number of concerts for famous international stars including Neil Young and Dolly Parton.

The date has been set for February 13th, and the tickets will go on sale on the 2nd of November. A week after the contest, on the 20th of February, the Danish broadcaster will host its youth contest MGP at Horsens also.
