Our third Eurovision 2016 act has been announced, with the announcement coming from Armenia. Many were speculating on who Armenia had chosen to represent them next year, but now we know that Iveta Mukuchyan has the opportunity to fly the flag for Armenia.
The announcement was made on the television show Profession – Journalist shown on AMPTV. Iveta says: “I’m very happy, thankful and honored to be chosen by the Public TV Company of Armenia to represent Armenia,” Iveta commented. “I love Eurovision and it’s amazing to get a chance to represent my country on the big stage. Your support is very important to me, so I hope you will be next to me on this responsible and important journey.”
Now, Armenia must choose a song for Iveta to sing. An open contest has begun, where songwriters from all over the world can submit entries to the public broadcaster, with more details found on the official Armenian broadcaster website. The submission period will close on the 13th of November.
Who is Iveta Mukuchyan?
Iveta was born in 1986 in Armenia. When she was young, her family moved to Germany however after spending two decades in Germany, she has chosen to return back to Armenia. She studied at the State Conservatory in Yerevan, and then in 2012, participated in the talent show The Voice of Germany where she made it to the live shows. Today, Iveta is a popular singer songwriter, and is a role model for young women across Armenia.
