Cyprus is returning to Junior Eurovision, after a one year break from the contest. Now, we know the act who will represent Cyprus at JESC, and that is, George Michaelides.
The 13 year old has already had plenty of experience in performing arts. Recently, George performed at the Spotlight Theatre Festival in London, and he also performed as a soloist at the Leicester Square Theatre also in London. Back in Cyprus, he played the role of Charis in Amanda The Musical. He has also performed with the Musical Kids TV show.
2 years earlier, George travelled to Germany for the UDO European Street Dance Championships and ranked 3rd place for the under 12’s. He has trained with some of the industry’s most pronounced performers, choreographers and creative directors including Lukas McFarlane, Gareth Walker and Ryan Jenkins. All this experience will help George achieve the best possible result for Cyprus, maybe even to bring the contest back to Cyprus, after they hosted in 2008.
Aside from the vast amount of performing experience, George is also an avid martial artist, with a blue belt in Judo. He has also engaged with numerous charities and fundraising events for causes such as the Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends, and Animal Welfare. Last year, he was nominated for a Paphos Hearts of Gold Award for all the hard work he puts into his community.
Back to Junior Eurovision – his song is called Dance Floor, however it hasn’t yet been released. The song will be released in the coming weeks, but for now, all we can say is that we have high expectations!
The last Cypriot entry was back in 2014, where Sophia Patsalides performed her song I Pio Omorfi Mera.
