Eurovision Union’s Weekly Playlist (7/52)

Each week, we are dedicated to bring you a specially curated playlist featuring a whole bunch of our favourite songs from Eurovision and National Final stars, both new and old! This week, the focus is on national final songs again, considering we are right in the midst of the national final season. We’ve also got some older national final songs, as well as some of our favourite Eurovision songs of this week!

Listen to the playlist here:

Starting off with our Scandi picks for this week, we’ve got a few Melodifestivalen faves, starting with the explicit entry from Lisa Ajax this year called I Don’t Give A. She’s still in the competition, which we can’t say for our other semi-final 2 favourite Allyawan, who peformed the song Vart har du Vart, and unfortunately had to say goodbye to the competition. Keeping with the Swedish theme, we’ve also got Eric Saade with the song Wide Awake.

From neighbours Finland, we’ve got Sāngyn Reunalla sung by Mikko Pohjola, who participated in UMK a few years back. From other neighbours Norway, we have Return, a song by 2009 Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak.

Heading to the Baltics, we have a good showing from Estonia this week, with In or Out by Elina Born as well as Feel Me Now by Ariadne, both of which are still in the running in Eesti Laul 2017. From a previous Eesti Laul edition, there’s fan favourite Laura with Supersonic. From Latvia, we’ve got the song Line by Triana Park, who are also still in the running in Supernova.

Heading further south, there’s Italy, who have one of the early favourites in Eurovision for this year in Occidentali’s Karma, which was a no brainer to feature on this week’s playlist. Also from Italy, we have the 2016 entry No Degree of Separation, which was one of our Guest Reviewer Selim’s favourite soloists in our Top 5 post. Marco Mengoni is also back on the playlist, this time with the song Resti Indifferente, one of our favourite tracks off his album Le Cose Che Non Ho.

Keeping with the theme of new tracks from former Eurovision stars, we have a beautiful ballad from Elaiza, who represented Germany in 2014. There’s also Dashterov, which is a super new track from Aram Mp3 which also features Iveta Mukuchyan, both of which represented Armenia in Eurovision. Also, there’s a track featuring NAVI, who will be representing Belarus at Eurovision this year. The track is called Kolybel’naja, which is worth a listen.

Hungary chose their act this week, and we actually featured Origo in last week’s playlist, so this week we’ve got Soulwave, which were an audience favourite, and we’ve also got Mushu, who were in the selection last year with the song Uncle Tom, which became our favourite A Dal song from 2016.

Other bits and bobs in this playlist are Paper by Svala, who is vying to represent Iceland in this year’s Eurovision. From Spain, we’ve got Maria Isabel, who had formerly won Junior Eurovision, and returned to the adult national final last year. We’ve also got Lejla by Hari Mata Hari, an oldie but a goodie!
