2018 Eurovision Season Officially Begins in Estonia!
With the start of the new Eurovision season on the 1st of September, many nations officially start the search for their next Eurovision act. Many broadcasters offer the opportunity for singers and songwriters to submit their entries of which a handful often make it to a national selection. Estonia have used the national selection format of Eesti Laul for what will be 10 years in 2018, and the broadcaster is calling Estonia’s best to submit their entries!
Through a Facebook post on their official Eesti Laul page, the broadcaster has announced that authors and musicians have the opportunity to get their music heard across the world through their national selection, and for one luck act, Eurovision. The submission period is now open, finishing on 3pm on November 1st.
The rules have also changed for the contest, specifically regarding the way the winner is chosen. Traditionally we’ve seen the format of the final, of which the Top 3 as voted by the jury and public then enter a Superfinal. In this Superfinal, the winner is chosen solely by televoting from the public. The change states that the winner will be now chosen with a split of jury and televoting, however it’s still unknown what percentage the jury has in the voting split.
Are there any Estonian artists you’d like to see in Eesti Laul in 2018?
Kerli and Elina again would be nice…
