Wales selects their debut Junior Eurovision entry!

Earlier in the year, it was announced that Wales were set to make their debut at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Through a national selection that has been running over the last few weeks, the artist representing the nation has been decided.

The final of Chwilio am Seren took place on the 9th of October with a total of six finalists. The show took place in two parts, the first where all six participants performed cover songs. The three mentors who have held the power over the last three weeks gave their opinions on their performances, but did not vote. Those three mentors were Connie Fisher, Stifyn Parri and Tara Bethan.

Here are the six finalists:

  • Ella
  • Gracie Jayne
  • Lily
  • Manw
  • Lauren
  • Misha

After all six performances, five judging panels voted for the three acts they thought should continue to the next round of the show. The three continuing to the next round were Elly, Lily and Manw. All three singers performed their version of the competing Junior Eurovision song ‘Hi yw y Berta’ which has been shortened on the video uploaded to the official Junior Eurovision channel as just ‘Berta.’

The Welsh public then were able to decide which of the three performers would continue on to Junior Eurovision, and with the highest number of votes from the public was Manw! Watch the national final performance below:
