The Ukrainian national selection kicked off this weekend with the first eight acts performing their entries on the Vidbir stage.
Not long after the competing artists were revealed, it was announced that former national finalist Tayanna would be withdrawing from the competition, and she was replaced by Maruv.
Here was the line-up from the first semi-final:

- Letay – Myla moya
- Vera Kekelia – Wow!
- Tsesho – Hate
- Yuko – Galyna guliala
- Maruv – Siren Song
- Brunettes Shoot Blondes – Houston
- Bahroma – Nazavzhdy-Navsegda
The results of the show were decided through a mixture of jury and televote. The three songs with the most points combined would qualify through to the final. The jury consisted of Jamala, Andriy Danylko and Yevhen Filatov.
The act with the highest jury vote was Yuko who received the highest points from two of the three judges. Brunettes Shoot Blondes finished in second place with the jury, while Maruv finished in third with the jury.
In the televote, Maruv comfortably finished in the top spot with just under 23% of the total vote. In second was Brunettes Shoot Blondes, and in this was Tsesho.
With the points combined, here are the qualifiers:
- Maruv – Siren Song
- Brunettes Shoot Blondes – Houston
- Yuko – Galyna guliala
Next week another eight acts will perform for the final three places in the final, which will take place on the 23rd of February.
