On a Sunday: Romania selects Ester Peony for Eurovision!

The Romanian national selection Selecţia Naţională has now concluded with the winner and the next Romanian Eurovision entrant decided.

The show took place at the Sala Polivalentă in the nation’s capital, Bucharest and was hosted by Alina Ionescu, Aurelian Temișan and Ilinca Avram. The show featured 12 entrants all of which had pre-qualified over the last two weeks.

  • Olivier Kaye – Right now
  • Laura Bretan – Dear Father
  • Teodora Dinu – Skyscraper
  • Claudiu Mirea – We Are the Ones
  • Aldo Blaga – Your Journey
  • Ester Peony – On a Sunday
  • Letitia Moisescu & Sensibil Balkan – Daina
  • Bella Santiago – Army of Love
  • Trooper – Destin
  • Dya and Lucian Colareza – Without You (Sin ti)
  • Vaida – Underground

The voting consisted of a jury vote and the televote, with the jury individually revealing their points during the show. The jury featured former Eurovision entrant Emmelie de Forest among others, with Emmelie also performing two songs during the show. Netta also performed during the show, both her Eurovision winning song Toy and her new single Bassa Sababa.

Receiving the most points from the jury was Ester Peony with the song On a Sunday. Following behind was Bella Santiago, then Laura Bretan. In the televote, Laura Bretan earned the highest number of points, followed by Trooper and then Bella Santiago.

With the points combined, Ester Peony remained in the lead, and so she will be the next Romanian Eurovision entrant! Watch her performance below:
