Junior Eurovision: The Netherlands Decides!

The Dutch Junior Eurovision national selection has now taken place, with Unity set to represent the nation with the song Best Friends. The show was hosted by Buddy Vedder and Romy Moneiro, with the competing acts performing in front of a small audience consisting of family and friends.

Originally there were four acts set to compete in the national selection, however solo singer Robin could not perform due to a positive COVID-19 test. Demi, who was part of the girl group Unity was also not able to perform for the same reason.

The three acts that performed were:

  • T-Square – Count on Me
  • Jackie & Janae – It’s You and Me
  • Unity – Best Friends

The voting consisted of a professional jury, a children’s jury and online voting. Featured in the children’s jury was last year’s Junior Eurovision participant Matheu and 6TIMES, who placed in the final of the Dutch selection last year. They gave their 9 points to T-Square, 10 to Unity and 12 to Jackie & Janae.

The professional jury consisted of Duncan Laurence, former Eurovision winner, as well as Fenna Ramos and Ronnie Flex. Their 9 points went to Jackie & Janae, 10 to T-Square and 12 to Unity. The online voting consisted of the same order of points as the professional jury.

Unity came out on top with 34 points, with Jackie & Janae in second with 30 points, and T-Square with 29 points.

The winning group consists of Naomi (13), Demi (14), Maud (14) and Jayda (13). They will perform the song Best Friends at Junior Eurovision this year. Watch the performance below:
