Simão Oliveira to Represent Portugal at Junior Eurovision

The first Junior Eurovision participant has been selected, with Simão Oliveira to represent Portugal at this year’s contest. Simão recently won The Voice Kids in Portugal.

The 14 year old singer comes from Arouca, a village near Porto. Other than singing, Simão also plays the clarinet. He participates in a youth band from his home town, and is the first member of his family to pursue a career in music.

Simão began singing at the age of four, and enjoys Fado, a traditional style of Portuguese music that focuses on storytelling in a melancholic form.  Other than music, Simão loves the countryside and animals. He helps his parents take care of the land they own, as well as chickens, rabbits and a dog. He would one day like to pursue an education in agricultural engineering. Simão also loves spending time with his grandparents.
