The Kazakh national final has now taken place, with an unexpected result! Two of the competing acts will join forces on the Junior Eurovision stage due to a tie.
The national selection saw 10 acts compete in Nur-Sultan, the nation’s capital. Here are the competing acts:
- Álimjan Túgelbaı – Senem ali
- Zhan Makim – Bile
- Ekaterina Tabarina – Fotomodel
- Beknur Jánibekuly – Human
- Adina Súlenova – Akeshim
- Armen Saakyan – Bala mahabbat
- Aıǵanym Amantaı – Armanym
- Amina Asǵatova – Qimylda
- Álınur Khamzin – Ertegi alemi
- Ábilqaıyr Jumabaı – Indigo Bala
The voting consisted of 50% jury and 50% televote. Álınur Khamzin led the jury vote with 17.1%, with Ábilqaıyr Jumabaı not far behind with 16.7%. In the televote, Beknur Jánibekuly dominated with 25.6% of the public vote. Aıǵanym Amantaı finished in second with the public vote.
With the points combined, both Beknur Jánibekuly and Álınur Khamzin finished with the exact same percentage, 30.5%. The jury had the power to break the tie, however they were unable to select just one act. Instead, both artists will head to Junior Eurovision this year! The duo will perform ‘Ertegi Alemi’ (World of Fairytales) at the contest.
