Krista Siegfrids found Eurovision fame in 2013, but has since become a staple in the Eurovision world. From participating to presenting, letโ€™s look back on the Eurovision journey of the Finnish star!

Who is Krista Siegfrids?

Krista Siegfrids is a singer and television presenter hailing from Kaskinen. She was born into a Swedish speaking minority, with her mother tongue Swedish. She also speaks fluent Finnish and English.

The Journey to Eurovision

Kristaโ€™s career began in the band โ€˜Daisy Jackโ€™ back in 2009. Their first single was titled โ€˜Perfect Crimeโ€™, which was released in 2011. She also scored a musical role in โ€˜Play Meโ€™ at the Swedish theatre in Helsinki. She continued her journey in musical theatre with a role in โ€˜Muskettisoturitโ€™ (The Three Musketeers).

Other than musical theatre, Siegfrids participated in the first season of The Voice of Finland, however failed to qualify past the semi-finals.

In 2013, Siegfrids participated in the Finnish national selection, UMK. She participated with the upbeat entry, โ€˜Marry Meโ€™ which achieved the maximum vote from the public and the jury. Krista was Eurovision bound!

At the contest, Krista qualified to the Eurovision final however ultimately finished in 24th place out of a field of 26. Despite the result, her performance caused some ripples with the inclusion of a same-sex kiss, which Krista hoped would encourage the legalisation of same-sex marriage in Finland.

What Happened Next?

Krista released her debut album โ€˜Ding Dong!โ€™ in May of 2013. Later in the year, she represented Finland in the Sopot Festival with her Eurovision entry, โ€˜Marry Meโ€™.

In 2015, Krista re-entered the Eurovision world by acting as the voting spokesperson for Finland. The following year, she hosted the Finnish Eurovision selection UMK.

Krista juggled her hosting duties with participating in the Swedish Eurovision selection, Melodifestivalen. She participated with the song โ€˜Fallerโ€™ however she did not advance from the second semi-final. Later in the year, she signed with Universal Music Sweden and Stereoscope Scandinavia.

In 2017, Krista returned to Melodifestivalen with the song โ€˜Snurra min jordโ€™, however again failed to reach the final.

Krista hosted an online miniseries for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 called โ€˜Krista Callingโ€™ which showed clips from backstage. Also in 2021, Krista participated in Dancing with the Stars, where she finished in 2nd place.

She will be heading to Spain in 2022 for the Eurovision pre-party in Madrid.
