🇮🇹 Gianni Morandi Returns to Sanremo As Co-Host

Gianni Morandi will return to Sanremo in 2023 as a Co-Host with Creative Director, Amadeus. This is not the first time hosting the contest, having done so in 2011 and 2012.

Festival di Sanremo is a prestigious song festival in Italy, more recently used as the Italian Eurovision selection. Gianni Morandi is no stranger to Sanremo, having participated and hosted. His most recent participation was in 2022, where he finished 3rd with his song ‘Apri Tutte Le Porte’. The Italian music legend also participated in Eurovision back in 1970 with the song ‘Occhi di ragazza’.

The 2023 edition of Festival di Sanremo will take place between February 7 to 11. The contest will follow a similar format to this year’s edition, with 25 artists to compete. Three of those artists will qualify through Sanremo Giovani. The competing songs will not be revealed until the first night of performances.

The winner of Sanremo 2023 will represent Italy at Eurovision, should they accept the offer. Mahmood and Blanco represented Italy in 2022 with the song ‘Brividi’. They finished in 6th place with 268 points.
