Austria: Show Two Complete!

Last night, the second show of Wer Singt für Österreich was broadcast. The six finalists first performed a cover song, and then came back onto stage to perform a ‘surprise song.’ The finalists and their cover songs were as follows:

  • The Makemakes – I Shot the Sheriff (Bob Marley)

  • Celina Ann – Empire State of Mind (Alicia Keys)

  • DAWA – Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve)

  • Folkshife – Medley of Just the Way You Are, Let’s Get Loud, Hangover, Danza Kuduro, Monsta, Sexy and I know It and Firework

  • Johann Sebastian Bass – Stronger (Kanye West)

  • Zoe – Something (The beatles)

After their cover songs, they performed their surprise songs, which took the artists out of their comfort zones. There was voting to decide the favourites, however no one was eliminated. The crowd favourites were the Makemakes, Celina Anna and Folkshilfe.

Next on the Agenda is the second last show of the selection process. On March 6th, each act has the opportunity to collaborate with well-known producers and songwriters to produce two songs, which will then be performed and the panel will choose which song will be presented in the final.

The representative who has the challenge of defending the title on home ground will be chosen on the 13th of March.
