2015 Reviews – France – Lisa Angell – N’oubliez Pas
Out of all the countries, I think I’ve changed my opinion the most dramatically about France. I remember when it was first picked, and I felt nothing for it. I really thought France was heading for a result worse than Twin Twin, which would be a difficult thing to do. However, the times have certainly changed.
First of all, I love that it’s in French – that really pleases me. I think the penny dropped for me when I heard Lisa sing it live. Her vocals are absolutely superb. Also, after reading the translated lyrics I realised how powerful the song is. I think this song will be more of a hit with the juries more than the televoters. It might end up like Raphael Gualazzi from 2011, who gained majority of his votes from the juries, and virtually none from televoters, but ended up coming second. I can see that happening for Lisa.
She definitely has one of the biggest voices this year, and once she gets into the middle section of the song, it’s crazy good. I’ve seen pictures of her backdrop and it’s incredible. I really think this will be a stand out performances. I’m definitely more team France than I was before, and I’m going to give this song a 6.5/10. Good Luck Lisa!
