It has been little over a week since SBS announced that it would be previous X factor winner, Dami Im, who will be representing Australia at their 2nd attempt at Eurovision. The song is called Sound of Silence, and can be described as a mid-tempo, contemporary ballad. The song was written by David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii who have written songs for artists including Ricky Martin, Delta Goodrem, The Veronicas and Jessica Mauboy.
The song describes feelings of nostalgia, and how it feels to miss someone close to you. Meaningful lyrics matched with Dami’s incredible vocal ability make for a hit pop song, sure to do well in Stockholm in May.
Referring to the song, Dami says, ‘The first time I heard Sound of Silence I knew it was the perfect song for me to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest. There are many ways to interpret the meaning around a song, but one theme that I relate to in Sound of Silence is that of disconnection and being away from the people in my life that I love. We live in a world where it is easy to be connected every minute of the day but along with this connection you can feel alone and isolated. I can’t wait to perform it live in Stockholm and connect with a whole new audience.’
