Poland chooses Michał Szpak with ‘Colour of Your Life’

The Polish broadcaster this year decided to hold a national final with nine diverse acts. The show was hosted by Artur Orzech, a well-known Polish journalist and also the commentator for Eurovision in Poland for the last 20 years. The show was opened by Monika Kuszynska, who represented Poland last year with the song In The Name Of Love, which she performed on stage. Andrzej Piaseczny who represented the nation in 2001 with the song 2 Long also appeared in the show as a guest.

The nine acts competing were:

  1. Taraka – In the Rain

  2. Napoli– My Universe

  3. Natalia Szroeder – Lustra

  4. Dorota Osińska– Universal

  5. Kasia Moś – Addiction

  6. Aleksandra Gintrowska– Missing

  7. Michał Szpak – Color of Your Life

  8. Margaret– Cool Me Down

  9. Edyta Górniak – Grateful

The voting tonight was 100% televoting, and each viewer could only vote once from each telephone number. The winner of the show was Michał, followed by Margaret and then Edyta.

But who is Michał? He began singing at the age of 9, and was in a band called Whiplash whilst still a student. Alongside the band, he also released an album titled Byle być sobą. In 2011, he participated at the Orange Warsaw festival alongside musicians such as Moby and My Chemical Romance, and in the same year, he took part of the X Factor Poland where he ended up in 2nd place.
