Czech Republic awakens to reveal ‘I Stand’

We are near the end of the national final season, and the Czech broadcaster has been quiet for months. Now, we finally know who will be representing the nation, and the song that they will be singing.

Gabriela Gunčíková is the act this year hoping to take the Czech Republic to the final for the very first time in Eurovision history. The song she will be singing is called I Stand, and you will be able to hear it below. The song was written by Christian Schneider and Sara Biglert, and the lyrics written by Aidan O’Connor and Sara Biglert.

Who is Gabriela Gunčíková? Gabriela was born in 1993, in the Czech Republic. She was a finalist in the 2nd season of SuperStar, and won the award for Best New Artist in the 2011 Český Slavík awards. She has released 2 albums, and has played concerts around her home nation as well as Slovakia. To take her singing ability to the next level, she got in contact with one of the best vocal coaches, Ken Tamplin, and studied in California at his academy. Whilst in America, she was discovered by Paul O’Neill from the American band Trans-Siberian Orchestra and at the time Gabriela sang for the band in tours spanning across the USA

Now, she is a solo act, and will be the Czech representative in Eurovision this year. Listen to the song down below, and if this is your new favourite, make sure to support Gabriela in our poll, which you can find here.
