Armenia Opting for a Marathon National Final for 2017
Armenia is still riding on a high from the success of the superstar Iveta Mukuchyan, and already, we are learning the details of the competition which will choose their next Eurovision participant. The public broadcaster AMPTV has announced that the next Eurovision hopeful will be chosen through a televised series of shows, called ‘To Eurovision’ (Depi Evratesil)
The national final will continue for a massive THREE MONTHS! The show will consist of auditions, and will feature the opinions of previous Eurovision representatives and professional juries. The audition phase of the show will begin in September, and then from October to December, viewers will be able to watch the show on the first channel of AMPTV.
The participants must be Armenian or of Armenian heritage, at least 16 years old to comply with Eurovision rules, and have to have a desire to conquer the Eurovision stage. The application period begins on the 6th of July, and to register, the candidates must submit an application at www.eurovision.am between then and August 25th.
The eventual winner of this marathon of shows will go on to represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, and has the difficult task of following on from Iveta Mukuchyan, who finished a respectable 7th place in the Grand Final of this year’s Eurovision.
