The lights are out: Denmark’s Lighthouse X are no more
This year, Denmark chose to send the 3 member boy-band to Eurovision, with the song Soldiers of Love. That band was Lighthouse X, and they have now decided to part ways. Lighthouse X consists of Martin, Johannes and Søren, and had been together as the boy-band since 2012. They formed with the hope of helping people face their own challenges in life. This brought the idea of mixing music with social responsibility, and innovative way to take on show business!
The group released their first single back in 2014, and since then had released a total of 6 singles, including their Eurovision song, Soldiers of Love. This was their most popular hit in Denmark, which was demonstrated when the group won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (the Danish selection) with 42% of the public vote! Although not reaching the same successes at Eurovision, the group had an avid following.
As mentioned before, Lighthouse X engaged with society in order to help others. Each of the three members were ambassadors for non-for-profit organisations, and always had the intentions of inspiring and encouraging. On the band’s Facebook page, they posted the statement:
‘With Lighthouse X we have achieved more than we ever dared to dream that we could. The last four years have been an incredibly amazing journey for us, during which we have performed in front of a countless number of people, listened to their stories and done everything we could to make a positive change in the world. All along, we have been side by side with a passionate team at Call me, the fourth member of Lighthouse X. That was our mission when we founded the band in 2012, and we have accomplished it’
Lighthouse X’s last show will take place during Copenhagen Pride.
