JESC: Ukraine selects Sofia Rol!

It seems that all the Eurovision news this week is coming out of Ukraine, and we’re totally excited about it. This time, we’re talking Junior Eurovision, where Ukraine very recently held their national final to select who would represent the nation at the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Malta.

Within the national final, there were 12 acts competing, all of which are listed below:

  1. VoiceLand – Vidchyny Svoie Sertse (Open your heart)

  2. Diana Sapozhko – Tvii svit (Your world)

  3. Denys Rodin – Ukraina – mama moia (Ukraine – my mother)

  4. Iuliia Radchuk – Moia Zoria (My Star)

  5. Denys Dovirak and Natalia Sadova – Iachekaiu Svoho Iysta (I am waiting for my letter)

  6. Alisa Panchuk – Pyisvoi Mrii (Drink your dreams)

  7. Polina Dashkova – Do Boha (To the Lord)

  8. Anastasiia Bahinska – Mii svit (My world)

  9. Sofiia Lozina – Uhorskyi tanok (Hungarian Dance)

  10. Sofia Rol – Planet Craves for Love

  11. Andrii Boiko – Open your Heart

  12. Sofiia Shkidchencko – Dolce Vita

The vote was 50% jury and 50% televote, and with all points combined, it was decided that it would be Sofiia Rol who would represent Ukraine with the song Planet Craves for Love with a total of 23 points combined.

Ukraine made its Junior Eurovision debut back in 2006 and has participated every year since. They have also won the contest once, back in 2012, but have hosted twice – in 2009 and 2013.
