Romania: TVR Reveals 84 Bids for the National Final

News from Romania, where the Romanian broadcaster TVR has announced that 84 songs have been submitted into the broadcaster for Selectia Nationala 2017. The submission period ended on the 22nd of January, and now the entries are being validated for the next stage of the contest.

The next stage will include auditions for the submitted entries, where the artists will perform in front of a jury consisting of 5 members, and the public. This will happen between the 27th and 29th of January. The auditions will also be aired by TVR as a standalone show called Euroshow, where the public will be able to view the auditions for themselves. The auditions will be broadcast between the 5th and 11th of February.

From the auditions, a total of 15 acts will be chosen by the jury to continue to the live semi-final, which is due to be held on the 26th of February in the capital Bucharest. From the semi-final, a total of 10 songs will be chosen, again by the jury to continue on to the final, where the winner will be chosen by 100% televote. The final will be held on the 5th of March, with the host city unknown at this point.

Although the broadcaster did not release the names of all 84 acts, we do know some of the artists who have launched their bids to represent the returning Romania at Eurovision 2017. Among the names are:

  • Mihai Trăistariu

  • Florin Chilian

  • Maxim

  • Distinto

  • Tavi Colen

  • Tudor Turcu

  • Nora Denes

  • Cristina Vasiu

  • Teodora Dinu

  • Ramona Nerra

Additionally, some well known composers have entered songs into the national final, including Elton Zarb, who wrote two Junior Eurovision winning songs for Malta. Estonian Stig Rasta has also entered a song, which will be sung by Sergiu Bolota.
