Moldova: Constantin Cobilean Disqualified, Nadia Mosneagu to Replace

Recently we reported on the 14 acts which had been selected by the juries in Moldova to continue on to the semi-final stage of their national final. One of the 14 songs, due to be sung by Constantin Cobilean called Mama was actually performed previous to the 1st of September 2016, which by the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest, is strictly not allowed.

Moldovan broadcaster TRM has now replaced Constantin with Nadia Mosneagu, who was next in line from the audition period. Nadia will be singing the song Never Give Up On Us in the semi-final of O Melodie Pentru Europa 2017, alongside 13 other acts. Nadia has participated in the national selection before, where she performed the song Memories in 2016, finishing in 13th place. With Nadia’s song being an English language song, this means that only two national language songs remain in the semi-final, which are the songs sung by Boris Covali and Aurel Chirtoacă.

The drama doesn’t stop there in Moldova, as Irina Kit’s song Baby Don’t Cry has had plagiarism claims against it, however TRM has yet to comment on these claims.

The semi-final will be held on the 24th of February, where eight acts will continue to the final which will be held the following day. Listen to Nadia’s audition here:
