Eurovision in Concert to host a record 35!

Throughout Europe, pre-contest parties and concerts take place and give a chance for the upcoming Eurovision artists to promote their songs to their potential voters. The largest pre-contest event is Eurovision in Concert, which has been running for 9 years now. The initiative was started by a group of Dutch Eurovision  fans, and is now endorsed by the EBU.

The concert is held in Amsterdam, at the Melkweg, and this year the event will be held on Saturday the 8th of April. The concert was sold out in less than 30 minutes, and it’s not hard to see why. This year, 35 acts will be performing, which exceeds last year’s record of 26. The show will be hosted by Dutch Eurovision commentator Cornald Maas and Selma, who participated on behalf of Iceland in 1999 and 2005. Selma will also perform her Eurovision entries All Out of Luck and If I Had Your Love.

An estimated 200 journalists from across Europe will also be attending the event to attend the press program before the concert. The artists will be welcomed in Amsterdam by the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Lilianna Ploumen. The press period also allows the journalists to conduct one-on-one interviews with the participating artists.
