It’s Confirmed! Eurovision 2018 Heads to Lisbon!

As expected, we’re all heading to the capital of Portugal, Lisbon next year for the Eurovision Song Contest. Not long after the 2017 contest in Kyiv, it was supposedly announced that Lisbon would be hosting, however not long after that, it was announced that a bidding process would take place to ensure the correct city would be chosen. Well, as we all knew, Lisbon will be the host!

As well as the host city, Portuguese broadcaster RTP have announced the dates of the contest, with the first semi-final to be held on the 8th of May, the second to be on the 10th of May, and the final on the 12th.

Of course, EBU Executive Supervisor of Eurovision Jon Ola Sand has commented on the decision, saying ‘We are very pleased to announce that RTP will be hosting the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. The City has presented an exemplary proposal, and we look forward to working together to make Portugal’s first ever Eurovision the most exciting one yet. We would like to congratulate RTP on their professional and detailed assessments of all the bids’

The other cities which were up for debate included Braga, Gondomar, Santa Maria da Feira and Guimarães, however organisers decided that Lisbon would be the best choice for the event.
