It’s the 1st of September, and that means another Eurovision season is upon us! From now, nations can select their entries for Eurovision 2018, or at least begin to prepare their national selection processes. One of those nations who is already preparing is Belarus, who have just announced that they will be using the national final format to select their next Eurovision act.
As we know, Belarus had already previously confirmed their participation in the 2018 contest, however it’s today that we know that they will continue to put their trust in the public to choose the act that will best represent them at Eurovision. The dates haven’t been set, however Belarus is normally one of the first nations to select their act, so perhaps we could be seeing the national final in December, or perhaps just after the new year.
Belarus have often used the national final format to select their act (although in some occasions it hasn’t exactly gone to plan), however at Eurovision their results haven’t always been great. Out of the 14 entries the nation has sent, only 5 of those have reached the final. This includes Naviband, who performed in Belarusian – which was a first for Belarus at Eurovision. Maybe this means we’ll be seeing more entries in Belarusian? Watch this space!
