Saara Aalto to team up with successful Eurovision songwriter!
Earlier in November, we learnt that Finland would be sending popular Finnish, and now international artist Saara Aalto to Eurovision 2018. In a change of national final process, it was decided that the entries submitted to the usual UMK format weren’t suitable, and with Saara having tried to represent Finland on numerous occasions, it was a perfect fit for Finland. It also helped that Saara had a really successful run on the X Factor UK, where she finished in 2nd place and subsequently became a household name in the UK and across Europe.
Regarding the national selection, we learnt that Saara will be performing three songs in the UMK selection show, and then it will be up to the voters to decide which of those entries will go on to be the official Finnish entry to Eurovision 2018. We now know that Saara has teamed up with renowned song writer and composer Linnea Deb.
The Swedish born producer, composer and songwriter has been a part of many well-known songs, not only in the context of Melodifestivalen and Eurovision, but Linnea has also been a part of many worldwide hits, including songs for Fifth Harmony and Jojo. In terms of Melodifestivalen, she has written two winning entries, the 2013 and 2015 songs, You and Heroes respectively, with the latter going on to win Eurovision in 2015. She has also written for Lisa Ajax, Ace Wilder, Molly Pettersson, Loreen and ISA. She also had a part in Margaret’s Polish national final song Cool Me Down which became a massive hit, and she has worked with Margaret again to create her 2018 Melodifestivalen song In My Cabana.
Could this be another winning combination? Stay tuned for more news on the Finnish national selection for Eurovision 2018!
