Saara Aalto places 2nd in the UK X Factor!

A couple of weeks back, we reported on the journey of Saara Aalto, the Finnish singer who took on the UK and survived weeks of voting in the X Factor to reach the top 2. The results are in, and Saara unfortunately was named a runner up once again, after finishing 3rd in Talent Suomi, and 2nd in the Voice of Finland – and of course, a close 2nd to Sandhja AND Paradise Oskar in both her attempts to represent Finland at Eurovision.

To read about the first 8 weeks of her X factor live shows, click here, but for now, let’s pick up where we left off. In the semi-final, the two themes of the show were Christmas, and the contestants’ choice. Saara performed White Christmas/All I want for Christmas is you, as well as Chandelier. For another week, she was safe, and this put her into the final.

Here are the performances:

In the final, she performed Everybody Wants to Rule the World, and her celebrity duet was with Adam Lambert, where she performed the Queen classic, Bohemian Rhapsody. She was safe again, so now Saara is in the top two, and it’s between her and Matt Terry.

She performed again, with the song of the series It’s Oh So Quiet, followed by I Didn’t Know My Own Strength. Despite another round of incredible performances, Saara was then announced as the runner up. The final had over 6.4 million votes cast for the two contestants, and the split was a close one, with Matt receiving 48.5% of the vote and Saara close behind with 40.4 % (5 After Midnight were at 11.1%).

Could we be seeing Saara performing for Finland at Eurovision in the future, or potentially the UK? Who knows what lies ahead for the Finnish pop princess!
