Eurovision World Cup: Iceland vs Ukraine

For the duration of the actual World Cup, some of the best Eurovision artists old and new will be battling it out in a series of matches that mirror the World Cup itself. By the end, we will know the first winner of our Eurovision World Cup!

On each competition day of the World Cup, all of the matches for that day will be posted here on Eurovision Union. For a full 24 hours, a poll will be open for each match and it will be up to you to pick which of the representative songs will win the match.

It’s the second but final day of the quarterfinals, and we have the last two matches for this round today. The winners of these two matches will compete against the winners of yesterday’s matches in the semi-finals! We are getting to the pointy end of the competition, but it’s up to YOU to keep those votes coming in for your favourites! This match is between Iceland and Ukraine!

Today’s competitors:

Is it true? Yes, it is, Yohanna is representing Iceland at the Eurovision World Cup! You will remember Yohanna as the Icelandic representative from Eurovision 2009, where she finished in 2nd place with her beautiful ballad Is It True. Although she didn’t win, she will prove to be a fierce competitor!

Ukraine are one of the most successful nations at the contest, having won twice since their debut in 2003. Their first win was with Ruslana in the second appearance for Ukraine, however Ukraine’s World Cup entry is their latest winner which is 1944 by Jamala. Listen to the entry below:
