Melodifestivalen is one of the most anticipated Eurovision national selections and the tradition remains strong, with the nation unsurprisingly choosing to stick with the format which more often than not has given them success in recent years, including two recent wins.

Swedish broadcaster SVT have announced both the dates and host cities of next year’s contest with the start date set for the 2nd of February, and the competition concluding on the 9th of March.

Here is the full schedule:

Semi-Final 1 – Gothenburg – February 2nd

Semi-Final 2 – Malmö – February 9th

Semi-Final 3 – Leksand – February 16th

Semi-Final 4 – Lidköping – February 23rd

Andra Chansen/Second chance – Nyköping- March 2nd

Final – Stockholm – March 9th

We may now know the host cities and dates, but we will have to wait a little longer to find out who will be participating. The submission period for Melodifestivalen is now over, and it is expected that the participants will be announced in November. However we do already know one of the participants, The Lovers of Valdaro who were given the wildcard entry after winning P4 Nästa 2018 which is a television programme designed to discover new Swedish talent.
