The Portuguese Eurovision selection, Festival da Canção, has now kicked off, with the first four qualifiers selected from a field of 8. The show was broadcast live from the nation’s capital, Lisbon and hosted by Jorge Gabriel and Tânia Ribas de Oliveira.
Here is the line-up:
- MEERA – Copo de Gin
- Filipe Sambado – Gerbera Amarela do Sul
- Ian Mucznik – O Dia de Amanhã
- Bárbara Tinoco – Passe-Partout
- Blasted Mechanism – Rebellion
- Elisa – Medo de Sentir
- JJaZZ – Agora
- Throes + The Shine – Movimento
The voting consisted of an in-house jury, whose votes represented 50% of the results. The other 50% came from the public vote. Here are the qualifiers:
- Filipe Sambado – Gerbera Amarela do Sul
- Bárbara Tinoco – Passe-Partout
- Elisa – Medo de Sentir
- Throes + The Shine – Movimento
This means that fan favourite, Blasted Mechanism are now eliminated from the competition. The second semi-final takes place on the 29th of February, with the next 8 acts to perform their entries, hoping to score the final four qualifying places.
