The first Melodi Grand Prix heat has taken place, where four acts competed with just one qualifying spot up for grabs.
It was previously announced that the Norwegian selection would consist of five heats, with four acts in each heat. Just one act will qualify each week, and the qualifiers will join six already qualified artists, KEiiNO, TIX, Stavangerkameratene, Kaja Rode, Atle Petterson and Rein Alexander.
The four competing acts in the heat were put into two duels, where a winner was decided for each duel. The winners would then move onto the ‘Gold Duel’ where the winner would then qualify to the Melodi Grand Prix final. The results were decided completely by online voting.
Here are the duels:
- Stina Talling – Elevate VS Beady Belle – Playing With Fire
- Jorn – Faith Bloody Faith VS Blåsemafian & Hazel – Let Loose
Stina Talling and Blåsemafian & Hazel qualified to the Gold Duel, where Blåsemafian & Hazel finished out on top, qualifying to the Final with the song Let Loose. Additionally, pre-qualified artists KEiiNO and TIX both performed their entries in this heat.
The three acts that failed to qualify to the final will go through a second chance round which will take place on the 14th of February, with the Grand Final to take place on the 20th of February.
