It has now been officially announced that internally selected artist Vasil will return as the North Macedonian representative for 2021. Vasil was set to represent the nation in 2020 with the song ‘You’, however the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vasil began his Eurovision journey back in 2019, where he was a backing singer for Tamara Todevska in Tel Aviv. He was then internally selected to represent North Macedonia in 2020 with the song ‘You’ which you can listen to below:
Over the last few months, Vasil has been working on his new album which will be released this year. As for his Eurovision 2021 entry, Macedonian broadcaster MKRTV has opened a submission for music producers to submit their entries. The submission period will conclude on the 27th of January.
Vasil said, ‘Rarely in life do we get not just one, but 3 chances to make our dream come true. In 2019 I proudly stood behind Tamara Todevska, in 2020 I dedicated everything to YOU – but Covid said no! In 2021 I am using my personal journey and story to place my heart in your hands through my voice’
He added: ‘Never stop believing, dreaming and fighting for what you stand for in life. Dreams do come true!’
