Maltese Broadcaster PBS has launched their selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year.
The nation will a public selection once again, with the televised final to take place in October. The Maltese representative will be selected through a combination of jury and televote. The rules of the selection are as follows:
- All artists must be Maltese nationals
- Songs must not have been commercially or publicly performed before the 1st of May 2021
- Songs must be between 2 minutes 30 seconds and 3 minutes long
- Lyrics can be written and performed in English or Maltese
Song submissions are open until the 5th of September, and it will be up to the broadcaster to select the entrants moving through to the national selection. On September 19th, it is expected that the finalists will be revealed, with the voting to begin at the start of October. The national final will be held on the 9th of October.
In 2020, Malta was represented by Chanel Monseigneur who performed ‘Chasing Sunsets’. The nation finished in 8th place with 100 points. Watch the performance below:
